Police say a man is facing murder charges in the fatal shooting of a 3-year-old Labrador retriever at a Montreal home last month.
The man is also facing a charge of causing a death by negligence, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
Police said the incident occurred on April 30 at the home of a 60-year old man.
The victim’s son, who has not been identified, told police he found the dog dead in the yard.
He said his father had previously called the police.
On Friday, police said they had a warrant for the man’s arrest.
He is scheduled to appear in court on April 22.
Montreal police are investigating the death.
